Accelerated Math and Accelerated Reading We
use Accelerated Math (AM) and Accelerated Reading (AR) in our classroom to help
our students succeed in their development of fundamental skills they
learn in the classroom.
Accelerated Reading enables us to
monitor your child's performance in the classroom, while engaging them
in reading and gaining AR points. The higher the book's reading level, the
more points your child may earn upon completion of their AR test.
TOPS
reports are "The Opportunity to Praise the Student" reports. They
allow us to give a "good job" to your child and send home a report saying
how they are doing immediately. This lets us focus more on
enabling them to succeed in their reading ability.
Accelerated
Math works in the same way. Accelerated Math prints out
worksheets and allows students to work ahead at their own pace, or
receive reinforcement on a particular math skill when they need it. The best part about Accelerated Math, is that
when your child is struggling, we know immediately instead of down the
road or at testing time, that your child is struggling.
Although,
I still use AR and AM in the classroom, many of the students have
switched over to our electronic version. This educational
resource is called PLATO. This is an awesome resource that allows
students to work at their own pace. It covers all skills in
reading, grammar, and math that are alligned with the state curriculum.
